Friendship by Emma Guest
A friend is like a flower,
a rose to be exact,
Or maybe like a brand new gate
that never comes unlatched.
A friend is like an owl,
both beautiful and wise.
Or perhaps a friend is like a ghost,
whose spirit never dies.
A friend is like a heart that goes
strong until the end.
Where would we be in this world
if we didn't have a friend
This poem is truly an important poem and has an amazing purpose. This poem is about friendship and how it effects your life. Friends have a huge impact in your life, especially because your social life is everything. Friends are there for you in hard and happy times, no matter what. You can turn to them and know that they always have your back and will make you laugh when you are feeling down. I personally do not know where and what I would do without my friends, they mean everything to me. This poem had a great meaning, structure, and was creative. This poem also helped me appreciate my friends even more and how I could not go on without them. In this poem there is an example of a simile when she says; a friend is like a flower. She is comparing a friend to a flower. I found this poem from the website http://www.indianchild.com/friendship.htm
